• Start your journey by taking a bus from mercado de mayoreo in Managua to San Carlos in Nicaragua.

• Next, hop on a boat from Granada to San Carlos. The boat departs from Granada every Monday and Thursday at 2 pm. The journey takes 16 hours overnight and includes stops in Altagracia and Ometepe. If you wish to travel from San Carlos to Granada, boats operate on Tuesdays and Fridays at 2:00 pm. The fare is C$ 180.00. Note that boat services may not be available during periods of low lake water levels.

• If you are coming from Costa Rica, you can take a boat from Los Chiles to San Carlos, Nicaragua. The boats depart at 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm and cost $10.00 US plus 500 Colones for Alcaldia. To return from San Carlos to Los Chiles, the boats operate from Monday to Saturday at 10:30 am, 1:30 pm, and 4:00 pm, and on Sunday at 11:00 am and 1:30 pm.
