Get in
Prepare to be amazed by the incredible monastery nestled on Mount Ostrog! Getting there is an adventure in itself, offering you two thrilling options: Option 1: Hop on a bus to Niki from Podgorica or Budva via Podgorica. Just make sure to let the driver know you're heading to the Ostrog Monastery. He'll stop at the perfect spot. From there, you can either take a cab for around 10 euros (don't forget to haggle!) or embark on a stunning 8-kilometer hike. This walk is an absolute treat for the senses, with a car road leading the way. However, be wary of hot weather. And remember, the final stretch consists of enchanting stone stairs! Option 2: Experience a train journey like no other! Take one of the trains running between Podgorica and Niki and make a stop at the Ostrog train station (one-way fare costs 1.80 in 2017). Keep in mind that train schedules are limited, so grab a timetable in advance. Once you arrive at the train station (located in the middle of nowhere, mind you), prepare for a captivating 45 to 60-minute walk. With a handy map or the opentopomap application on your mobile phone, accessing the lower part of the monastery is a breeze. Adventure awaits!
