Get in

If you're planning a visit to the tulou, the most convenient way to get there is from Xiamen. Hop on a direct bus from Xiamen's Hubin Bus Station and you'll be on your way to Hukeng or Yongding, both gateways to the tulous. The journey from Xiamen to Liulian, where you'll find the most convenient base for exploring the tulous, takes approximately 3.5 hours. You can also consider taking a bus from Xiamen to Hukeng with a transfer in Longyan, or opt for a train ride through Yongding or Longyan. Whichever route you choose, be sure to check the bus and train schedules before you depart. Once you arrive at your destination, buses and mini-vans will be available to take you to the tulous. If you're eager to explore as many tulous as possible, head to Woo Kang village and make it your home base. If you prefer an organized tour, some Xiamen hotels can arrange a Chinese tourist group experience for you. While these tours may include stops for shopping, they offer an interesting way to immerse yourself in Chinese tourism culture.
