Get in
Wulingyuan, located 155 miles northwest of Changsha, is a breathtaking destination that should not be missed. To make your way to this stunning place, it is best to take transit from Zhangjiajie city. The closest domestic airport is Zhangjiajie Hehua Airport (IATA airport code DYG; formerly named Dayong Airport). Once you arrive in Zhangjiajie city, you can easily reach the entrance of Wulingyuan by taking a taxi, which should cost around 100RMB. Another option is to hop on a 1-hour minibus for just 20 yuan, which departs from the main bus station in Zhangjiajie City and takes you directly to the village of Zhangjiajie Cun, right at the entrance of the park. The best part is that you can pay for the bus ride on board, so no need to wait in line at the ticket window. Once you arrive in Zhangjiajie Cun, the main bus station is conveniently located just a 15-minute walk away from the park entrance. If you prefer not to walk, you can also take a public bus for a mere 1RMB or a taxi for 5RMB. The bus station in Zhangjiajie is situated right next to the main train station, close to the McDonald's. To find the minibuses, head out to the waiting area and keep heading left until you come across a bustling gathering of minibuses. It is important to note that Wulingyuan has several entrances, with Zhangjiajie being one of the most popular ones. Alternatively, you can also access the park through Wulingyuan Village, which is located further northeast, near the enchanting BaoFeng Lake. If you happen to be in Fenghuang, you can directly reach Wulingyuan village by taking a long-distance bus at 8:30 am or 2:30 pm, costing 110 RMB and taking approximately 3.5 hours. Similarly, if you are in Changsha, you can catch a bus at 7:50 am, 9:20 am, or 2:30 pm, costing 103 RMB and taking around 5 hours. As with any travel destination, it is important to be cautious. When dealing with taxi drivers in the parking lot, be aware that they may try to overcharge you by not using the meter. They might falsely claim that your destination is far and attempt to charge you a "parking lot fee." To avoid any issues, it is recommended to call your hotel or hostel beforehand to determine the appropriate cost for the trip. If possible, ask them to speak with a taxi driver on your behalf. Generally, a trip from the airport to Zhangjiajie city should only cost about 20-40 RMB in total, so don't let anyone take advantage of you during your journey.
