Understand
EPCOT, the second theme park in Walt Disney World, opened on October 1, 1982. It is divided into two distinct areas: Future World and World Showcase. Future World resembles a "World Expo" and features pavilions showcasing human innovation and imagination. Iconic attractions include Soarin' Around the World, offering a simulated flight to famous landmarks, and Test Track, the resort's fastest ride themed as a car-testing facility. Spaceship Earth, housed in a unique geodesic dome, takes guests on an educational ride through human history. Meanwhile, Mission Space offers a thrilling simulated journey from Earth to Mars. In World Showcase, each pavilion represents a different country, creating a multifaceted cultural experience. The showcase includes 11 pavilions around a scenic lake, featuring landmarks and shows that immerse visitors in each culture. Notable attractions include the Grand Fiesta Tour in the Mexico Pavilion, a classic dark ride themed around the "Three Caballeros," and Frozen Ever After in the Norway Pavilion, which brings characters from Disney's hit film Frozen to life. While sometimes referred to as an "educational park," EPCOT offers entertainment, information, and inspiration in true Disney style. The park appeals to adults and older children with its cerebral attractions, but younger visitors can also enjoy character greetings, Kidcot Fun Stops, and colorful, character-filled rides. Just outside Epcot's International Gateway, Disney's BoardWalk provides a lively nightlife and shopping experience, themed as a mid-Atlantic beach community.
Get in
Epcot is a magical place where dreams come true, and it offers not just one, but two entrances for you to choose from. The first entrance, which is the most popular one, is right in front of the park, marked by the iconic Spaceship Earth. But did you know there's also a "back entrance"? Located on the left side of the World Showcase, between the UK and France Pavilion, it was specially built for guests staying at the Boardwalk hotels. Talk about convenience! When it comes to exploring the park, there's a bit of a staggered opening. For those eager to dive into Future World or meet Anna and Elsa at the Norway Pavilion, everything is accessible right at the official park opening time, either at 8 or 9am. However, the rest of the World Showcase opens about 1-2 hours later (make sure to check the schedule), and it usually closes a little earlier than the rest. But no worries, the International Gateway is open, and friendly cast members will guide you through Canada and the UK pavilions towards Future World. Get ready for a day full of adventure and magic!
