Get in
Venture into the enchanting southern sector of Virunga National Park, where gorillas and volcanoes await. There are several ways to reach this extraordinary destination: 1. Overland via Uganda: Cross the border in Bunagana and embark on an unforgettable journey within the park. Within just one hour, you can easily access the Mountain gorilla sites of Jomba and Bikenge. The border crossing is a breeze, and you can purchase a local visa on arrival for only $50. This visa allows you to explore the park and exit the country at the Bunagana border post. 2. Overland via Rwanda: Experience the park's wonders by crossing the border at Gisenyi/Goma. Ensure you have a pre-arranged visa to avoid any complications. While this option can be more challenging or expensive (with a visa costing $280 at the border), it offers a unique adventure. 3. Fly into Goma: If you're traveling from within the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), many flights connect to Goma. If you're coming from outside the DRC, Entebbe is the only city connected by TMK. Once again, it's crucial to have a pre-arranged visa for a smooth journey. Important note: Virunga National Park now offers a convenient tourism visa for $105 USD. This visa, which can be obtained along with a park permit, allows for 14 days of travel within the DRC. However, entry and exit are only permitted at the Grand Barriere between Goma and Gisenyi (as of July 2017). Congo Travel and Tours also sponsors visas on arrival and beforehand via embassies.
