Virpur, located 53 kilometers from Rajkot in Gujarat, is a village of great significance. It is the birthplace of saint Jalaram Bapa, a devoted follower of Lord Rama. Jalaram Bapa dedicated his life to serving sadhus, saints, and the needy. With the support of his wife Virbai, he established a feeding center called "Sadavrat," where anyone, whether they were sadhus, saints, or in need, could have food at any time of the day. Visitors to the Jalaram Bapa temple are encouraged to have lunch or dinner, as it is a tradition upheld by the temple. What sets this temple apart is that it does not accept any monetary offerings or donations, making it the only temple in India with such a practice. The temple houses the belongings of Jalaram Bapa, as well as idols of Lord Rama, Sita, Lakshmana, and Hanuman, all of whom were worshipped by him. The temple also showcases the Jholi and Danda, said to be gifts from God. However, the most captivating feature is the portrait of Jalaram Bapa. Additionally, the temple proudly displays an original black and white photograph of Jalaram Bapa, taken one year before his passing. This village and temple hold great historical and spiritual significance, making them a must-visit for those seeking a deeper understanding of India's rich cultural heritage.
