Once home to large manors where bishops enjoyed their holidays, Trento has now become one of the most affluent towns in Italy, thanks to its thriving farming, wine production, and high-tech industries. During Easter, the fields surrounding Trento burst into a magnificent display of apple blossoms. Strolling through the town center's pedestrian area, you'll encounter splendid outdoor frescoes adorning historic buildings. The river Adige used to flow outside the center, marked today by the presence of Torre Verde. Trento's significance doesn't end there – it prominently features the Council of Trent, which gathered in the 16th century, leaving an indelible mark on the town. Another notable historical event connected to Judaism unfolded here over five hundred years ago. Tragically, a young boy named Simione lost his life, resulting in baseless accusations against the Jewish community, fueled by tales of pagan rituals. In response, Trento suffered the loss of Jewish lives and their subsequent expulsion. However, in the 1990s, the rift between Trento and the Jewish community began to heal when Simione ceased to be officially honored as a martyr, and the ban on Trento was lifted. A plaque commemorating this reconciliation can be found in a charming alley off via Roma.
