Its pristine beaches were even featured in the 1958 movie "South Pacific," known as "Bali Hai." Renowned for its breathtaking natural beauty, Tioman's dense forests and untouched landscapes make it a haven for divers, surrounded by pristine coral reefs. While the island has seen some development, a controversial marina project aims to accelerate progress. However, visitors who prefer a more untouched experience can explore other parts of the island unaffected by this development. During your visit, be prepared to encounter enormous monitor lizards roaming the island, and observe feline companions sifting through garbage in the kampongs. Waste management is still a work in progress, but efforts are underway to improve cleanliness, particularly in resorts. Despite some less-than-ideal conditions, areas like Air Batong have made significant strides in maintaining a cleaner environment, motivating further progress.

A visit to Tioman Island promises breathtaking natural beauty and unforgettable experiences. However, before you embark on this adventure, there are a few fees to keep in mind. To set foot on the pristine shores of Tioman Island, there is a nominal fee of RM10 for students and RM20 for regular visitors. This fee helps in the preservation and maintenance of the island's remarkable ecosystem. Additionally, there is a separate Marine Park fee of RM15 for students and RM30 for regular visitors. This fee allows you to explore and marvel at the diverse marine life that call the surrounding waters their home. When you arrive at the Mersing or Tanjung Gemok ferry terminals, you will find two little kiosks where you can conveniently pay these fees. Remember, both fees must be paid separately at these kiosks just before departing for Tioman Island, ensuring a hassle-free and enjoyable journey to this tropical paradise. So come prepared, and get ready to soak up the sun, dive into crystal-clear waters, and create memories that will last a lifetime!
