Get in
When planning a trip to Telemark, there are several ways to reach your destination. By air, you can choose between two airports with scheduled flights - Skien Geiteryggen Airport and Notodden Airport. Sandefjord Airport Torp, which is located nearby, offers direct flights from many European cities. From there, you can take a bus to Porsgrunn, Skien, or utilize the gratis shuttle bus to the nearby train stop, "Torp Sandefjord Lufthavn," and then hop on a train to Porsgrunn or Skien. Traveling by car is also an option, as the main road E18 passes through Telemark, making it easily accessible from Eastern and Southern Norway. There are tollbooth stations along the way, but they are not overly expensive. However, keep in mind that local roads and certain E18 stretches may require patience and experience. If you prefer public transportation, there are plenty of buses available from Oslo, and you can also take the train from Gardermoen Airport via Oslo. The trains offer a comfortable and scenic route along the coast, with stops in Porsgrunn and Skien. Make sure to book your tickets in advance to secure the best price!
