Trnveni (Dicsszentmrton in Hungarian, Sankt Martin in German, Tycheum Sent Marton in Latin) is a bustling city located in the center-north of Romania, right in the heart of Transylvania. Nestled near the majestic Carpathian Mountains on the Transylvanian plateau, this city of 26,000 inhabitants offers a landscape filled with rolling hills and the tranquil Trnava Mic River. The roots of Trnveni date back to the late Middle Ages, with documented mention of the city as Sent Marton in 1278. This Latin name, "terra Tycheum Sent Marton," reveals the historical significance of this vibrant place. Divided into two distinct areas, Trnveni's old city center exudes charm and character. It is home to neighborhoods such as Republicii, Nicolae Blcescu, Frumoasei, Viitorului, Pcii, and oimilor. Additionally, the city expanded to include the village of Bozia in 1964, integrating it with neighborhoods like Armatei and Zorilor. Trnveni boasts diverse neighborhoods, from the lively 1 Decembrie on the road leading to Trgu Mure, to the industrious Dezrobiri along the path to Blaj. The city's growth also led to the development of neighborhoods like George Enescu, Tineretului, and Victoriei, bridging the gap between the city center and Bozia. Two quaint villages, Botorca and Cutelnic, have now become part of this flourishing city. Bobohalma, a village within Trnveni, adds to the richness of this captivating region. As the official language of Romania is spoken throughout the city, the influence of the Hungarian minority is also evident, with the Hungarian language being spoken by around 20% of Trnveni's inhabitants. Trnveni experiences a temperate-continental climate, with hot summers and cold winters. Embracing all four seasons, the city's average temperature throughout the year is 9.8°C. Situated in the East European time zone (UTC+2), Trnveni comes alive with vibrant energy as the day unfolds.
