Looking to explore Tanohata Village in Japan? There are a couple of ways to get there. If you prefer public transportation, you can take the Sanriku Railway from either Miyako or Kuji. To reach Kuji, you can hop on the JR Hachinohe Line from Hachinohe or take a JR Tohoku Bus from Ninohe. Miyako is linked from Morioka by the JR Yamada Line or Kenpoku Bus Express 106. The train ride from either Miyako or Kuji to Tanohata Station takes about 50 minutes. Keep in mind that the Sanriku Railway has hourly services. The village has two stations, Tanohata Station and Shimanokoshi Station. Alternatively, if you prefer the convenience and flexibility of driving, you can rent a car from Morioka Station. Driving in this region is less stressful than in big cities like Tokyo. The shortest route from Morioka is National Road 455, which offers scenic views of Gandoko and Sotoyama lakes and the tranquil town of Iwaizumi. The drive from Morioka to Tanohata takes roughly 2 hours. Just make sure to check the rental agency's closing time and plan accordingly.
