Tangkou, located in the scenic Mount Huangshan area, has several options for transportation. If you're coming from nearby cities like Shanghai, Hangzhou, or Nanjing, you can easily reach Tangkou by long distance bus. Your hotel can help you book bus tickets, although they may not be National Express services. If you prefer a quicker option, you can take a taxi to the long distance bus station in the western part of Tangkou's city. From there, you can catch a National Express bus back to Shanghai or Hangzhou. In April 2012, the bus ticket price to Shanghai was 140 yuan and to Hangzhou was 100 yuan. Another popular way to get to Tangkou is via Tunxi, which offers good transportation connections including buses, trains, and planes. From Tunxi, you can take a bus directly to Tangkou. The bus station is known as Huangshan Mountain Changyun Passenger Transport Terminal or Huangshan Sanggeehua Homestay Bus Terminal. It costs 20 yuan and takes approximately 1 hour. Buses depart every 20 minutes. If you're traveling from Hongcun, you will need to hire a private driver. The drivers can be found in front of Hongcun's main entrance gate. The ride takes about 45 minutes and costs 100 yuan. You can also ask the driver to find more people going to Tangkou to save money. Just note that the drive is fast-paced, so buckle up for a thrilling ride!
