Understand
Surin Beach is a hidden gem that still retains its charming village atmosphere, although it is gradually being transformed by major housing and hotel projects. Accommodation in this area may not come cheap, with prices ranging around 500 baht during the low season. However, the rewards of staying here are immeasurable. The beach itself will captivate you with its crystal-clear waters and soft, white sand. Tall casuarina trees line the shore, providing shade and a picturesque backdrop. Discover an array of small Thai-style restaurants along the beach, offering delectable local cuisine that will tantalize your taste buds. Surin Beach is often referred to as "millionaire's row" due to the presence of luxurious villas overlooking the bay. This exclusive enclave attracts film stars and VIPs who seek privacy away from the bustling crowds. If you venture just north of Surin, you'll encounter Pansea Bay, a breathtakingly scenic area dominated by two deluxe resorts - Amanpuri and the Chedi. Although the beach is known for its tranquility, there may still be occasional hawkers wandering about, keen to catch your attention but not overly intrusive. Make sure to explore the handful of nearby restaurants and shops to immerse yourself in the local culture and flavors. Surin Beach promises an unforgettable experience, where you can unwind in paradise and indulge in luxurious surroundings.
Get in
Surin Beach is a hidden gem just 20 minutes away from Phuket Airport. After your flight, hop into an airport co-op taxi or a metered taxi for a quick and convenient ride to the beach. The airport co-op taxi will cost you 600 baht, while a metered taxi might even take you there for as little as 500 baht. However, be aware of the local taxi mafia on your way back, as they tend to charge a hefty 700 baht for the return trip. If you prefer a budget-friendly option, catch a blue-and-white songthaew from Bus Terminal 1 in Phuket Town. These affordable shared taxis will not only take you to Surin Beach but also continue on to the next beach, just 3km away. Keep in mind that songthaews stop running around 4pm, so plan your return accordingly. If you can't find a songthaew, you might need to hail a taxi, which will cost you approximately 600 baht. Another option is to take a tuk-tuk from the intersection in front of the beach, but be prepared to pay a non-negotiable 300 baht to get to the next beach along. Get ready for a beach adventure at Surin Beach!
