Understand
Once a thriving industrial hub during the USSR period, Sumagit stood as one of the largest industry-oriented cities of its time. It was home to nearly 90 heavy to medium industrial plants. However, the city has undergone significant changes, and today only 5 or 6 of these industrial plants remain.
Designed and constructed in the 1950s, Sumagit was strategically located around 3-4 km (1.8-2.5 mi) away from the industrial zone to minimize the impact of pollution on its residents. As a result, the city's coastline boasts vast green areas, providing a refreshing and environmentally-friendly urban environment.
