Get in
Dreaming of a trip to Southern Newfoundland? There are three primary routes to choose from:
- Take Highway 210 southwest from the Trans-Canada Highway (Highway 1) at the Goobies Visitor Centre, next to an Irving gas station and Truck Stop on the east side of the island.
- Alternatively, head southeast from the TransCanada (Highway 1) at Barachols Pond Park, leading you to Burgeo.
- For an extended adventure, continue along the Trans-Canada east from Port-aux-Basques until you reach Rose Blanche.
While hitchhiking in Southern Newfoundland may require some patience due to less traffic on key roads, such as the 210 or the TransCanada from Rose Blanche to Port-aux-Basques, the friendly locals make it worthwhile. Once you catch a ride, chances are you'll enjoy a long journey, as people often go out of their way to drop you off at a convenient location.
