If you're driving from Washington, DC, the major routes to Southern Maryland include Route 4 (Calvert Country) and Route 5 (Charles and St. Mary's Counties). From points south, Route 301 is the way to go, while points north can take I-95 South to the Washington Beltway (I-495) and follow the Inner Loop to either the Route 4 or Route 5 exit.
