Get in
To visit the Shaolin complex, you can conveniently reach it from Zhengzhou, which is about a two-hour journey. Buses leave opposite the train station every 20-30 minutes in the morning. However, be cautious as some of the bus tickets are actually tours that may spend most of the day at auxiliary sites or having lunch instead of visiting the Shaolin complex. These tours do not include entrance fees. If you want to explore the complex on your own, try to ensure that you are on a direct bus or hire a van. Alternatively, you can take bus number 1 from the bus station and ride it until the end, then hop on bus number 8. This option only costs 3 yuan instead of the 30 yuan charged for the tourist bus. If you are in Luoyang, you can take a regular bus from the main bus station that passes by the entrance of Shaolin Temple. The bus fare is RMB 19. While there are no fixed services from Shaolin back to Luoyang, you can flag down a bus heading back towards the city for RMB 20 for most of the day. The journey takes approximately 90 minutes.
