Shakhrisabz, a captivating city in Uzbekistan, awaits your visit! Located approximately 60 km away from the renowned city of Samarkand, reaching Shakhrisabz promises a thrilling adventure. To get there, you'll venture over the Takhzakaracha Pass, which stands at a staggering height of 1,780 meters. Please note that from January to March, the pass may be closed, requiring a detour that adds an additional three hours to your travel time. This detour, however, only amplifies the anticipation of what awaits you in Shakhrisabz. Shared taxis depart from Suzangaran in Samarkand, near the bustling Registan area. For approximately 2500 UZS (Uzbekistani som), you can secure a seat in a shared taxi and enjoy a 90-minute journey filled with picturesque landscapes and local charm. Keep in mind that some taxis may only go as far as Kitab, requiring you to arrange for another taxi for the final 10 km stretch. If you're coming from the vibrant city of Bukhara, shared taxis await you across the Sharq Bus Station, conveniently located east of the city center. The drive spans approximately 280 km, passing through Qarshi (Karhsi). The scenic trip takes around four hours and costs about 12000 UZS (as of 2007). Occasionally, you may need to switch taxis at Qarshi (Karhsi), making the journey even more exciting and unpredictable.
