Seto, a city in Japan, holds a rich and fascinating history in the world of ceramics. Its name, "Setomono," literally translates to "Seto's things" and signifies the importance of ceramics in this region. During the Edo period, a visionary named Tamakichi Kato arrived in Seto, bringing with him innovative methods of ceramic production. He established his own unique style, which eventually caught the attention of the influential Owari clan. With their support, Seto ceramics flourished and Kato became known as the father of Seto ceramics.
