If you're planning a trip to Papua New Guinea, Air Niugini offers daily flights to the city of Wewak and regular flights to Vanimo from the capital city of Port Moresby, as well as from other major cities like Nadzab and Madang. Visit the Air Niugini website for more information on flight schedules and bookings. Another airline option is Airlines PNG, which connects Wewak with Mt. Hagen in the Highlands and with Madang. Check out their website for flight details and reservations. For a more adventurous journey, you can travel overland from Jayapura in Indonesia to Vanimo over PNG's only land border crossing. Make sure to refer to the main Papua New Guinea article for complete information on the border crossing process. If you're up for an unforgettable maritime experience, there's a weekly (or twice-weekly) ship that sails between Wewak and Madang. This scenic route takes approximately one night and costs 205 kina. Students can enjoy a special discount. Alternatively, you can take a PMV (Public Motor Vehicle) to Angoram on the Sepik River, where you can hop on the famous buai boats that run to Bogia. From Bogia, you can then catch a PMV to Madang. Keep in mind that this is a long journey, but the trip down the river, usually done at night, is truly magical. Be prepared for possible boat overcrowding, which might result in splitting passengers onto two boats before reaching the final destination. Traveling in the reverse direction, from Madang to Angoram, might be a bit trickier as the departure points of the buai boats are uncertain. You can usually find buai boats departing from Bogia, Awar, or Borai, but it's important to note that it's virtually impossible to know from where the next boat will depart. Whether you're traveling from Wewak to Madang or Madang to Angoram, be prepared for long waits, extended travel times, and the possibility of spending at least one night on the way. However, this is a popular way to travel and allows you to immerse yourself in the beauty of Papua New Guinea. Take the unique journey from Wewak to Madang and create memories of a lifetime!
