Understand
Once a humble fishing village, this coastal resort has evolved into a vibrant part of The Hague. Its residents still hold onto their local identity, creating a unique and inviting atmosphere. Divided into three distinct areas, each offering a different experience. The Haven, or seaport, may not have the picturesque charm of some other fishing harbors, but it boasts excellent fish shops and restaurants. The Dorp, the heart of the former fishing village, carries the heritage of its seafaring past. And then there's Bad, the beach resort that attracts visitors from near and far. While the grandeur of the 19th century has waned, the Kurhaus remains a must-see attraction. Unfortunately, the promenade lost some of its charm due to development in the late 20th century. Despite that, the area still attracts crowds in the summertime. For a bustling nightlife, many prefer Scheveningen over the city center. Discover the two different districts, with the famous and touristy Noorderstrand in the north, and the more urban and less crowded Zuiderstrand in the south.
