If you are looking for an extraordinary adventure, you can reach San Juan Del Norte, Nicaragua by taking a flight with La Costena. These regular flights land at Greytown Airport, just a short 15-minute boat ride away from San Juan Del Norte. For a more exclusive experience, you can also arrange a private charter through Rio Indio Lodge, departing from Costa Rica. While previously there were boat trips between San Juan del Norte and Bluefields, these have not been operational for years due to safety concerns. Therefore, it is not recommended for tourists to pursue this option. Another exciting option is to embark on a boat journey from San Carlos, Nicaragua. The fast boat trip takes approximately 6 hours, while the slower option offers an 11-hour adventure. Departures from San Carlos are available on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at 6 am. This thrilling boat ride allows you to witness the breathtaking landscapes of Nicaragua before arriving at your destination. La Costena now operates two flights per week, connecting Managua, Ometepe, and San Carlos. This convenient route enables you to explore multiple destinations before reaching San Juan de Nicaragua (Greytown). Flights from Managua to San Juan de Nicaragua take place every Thursday and Sunday. Future plans are underway to establish connections between San Juan del Norte and Puerto Limon and Tortuguero in Costa Rica. This expansion will offer even more opportunities for extraordinary adventures in the Caribbean region of Costa Rica.
