Located a few kilometers outside of San Juan, two highly popular areas attract visitors seeking thrilling wave-riding adventures: - Urbiztondo: This vibrant area is home to several upscale resorts that offer comfortable accommodations, delectable dining options, and surf lessons. Although slightly pricier, these resorts provide an exceptional experience. Surfboard rentals are available for around Php 200 per hour, and you can also sign up for surf lessons at the same price (as of Feb 2010). On weekends, the beach becomes a bustling hub with more than 70 surfers carving through the waves. - Montemar: For those seeking a more secluded surfing experience, Montemar is the ideal spot. With fewer resorts and a tranquil atmosphere, you'll have the entire expanse of water to yourself. Bring your own board or rent one from the resorts, which offer reasonable rates. Board rentals here cost approximately Php 120 per hour, but unfortunately, surf lessons are not available in this area.
