Understand
The Saharan region in Chad is an expansive area that covers roughly the northern third of the country. It includes Borkou-Ennedi-Tibesti Prefecture, as well as parts of Kanem, Batha, and Biltine prefectures. This region experiences very little rainfall throughout the year, with only occasional traces. However, there are scattered small oases and occasional wells that provide vital water sources for date palms and small plots of millet and garden crops. In the northern parts of the Saharan region, temperatures can reach a scorching 45°C during the hottest month of May, while even during the coolest month of January, the average daily maximum temperature remains at around 32°C.
