Embarking on a trek around the majestic Rwenzori Mountains is an unforgettable experience. There are three main points of departure for this epic adventure. The starting point is Nyakalengija, which is operated by RMS. They can arrange transport from Entebbe and Kampala, but you can also arrange it yourself. To get there, travel south towards Kasese from Fort Portal, where you can spend the night and gather some essentials. From Mubuku, just 15 minutes north of Kasese, you can arrange transport to the gate, passing by the Bugoye power plant. If you prefer to drive, take the road west at the small, rundown power station until you reach the end where you can safely park your vehicle. Once you arrive in the morning, everything including guides and porters will be organized within a matter of hours. It's important to bring your own mountaineering equipment and keep in mind that the quality of the guides may vary. It's always a good idea to seek advice from fellow travelers who have done this walk before. RMS also offers one-day walks from Port Fortal to Bundibugye, which is a less extreme option but still offers a unique experience. Another alternative is the Rwenzori Community Walks, arranged by Backpackers in Kilembe. They offer one and two-day walks at a more affordable price, and the profits go towards community development projects. Arranging transport from Kasese to Kilembe is easy, with several buses available. If you prefer to drive, the backpackers are located at the far west end of Kilembe, just a short distance across the bridge. Get ready for an incredible journey through the Rwenzori Mountains!

Consisting primarily of chicken cooked in a tomato-based stew, it is flavored with a unique blend of local herbs and spices, including magi (a type of bouillon cube), garlic, onions, and fresh or dried chili peppers. The dish is often accompanied by sides such as mashed matoke or posho (maize porridge).
