Surrounded by the majestic Lechtaler Alps, Tannheimer, and Ammer Mountain ranges, Reutte offers breathtaking views of the Alpine mountains. The town is known for its thriving agriculture and small businesses that provide employment opportunities for the locals. Reutte's history dates back to the 13th century when it was referred to as "Reutte near Breitenwang." Over the centuries, the town developed and improved its infrastructure, including the construction of a bridge over the lech River. This led to Reutte becoming the central trade district in the region. By 1488, Reutte was granted the right to conduct a weekly market, and in 1491, it was given the status of a free town by Emperor Maximillian 1. The iconic fortress castle, Ehrenburg, perched on a mountain overlooking Reutte, was added to the town in 1604. In 1754, Reutte became the capital city of the 'upper Inn Valley,' and it has continued to grow and expand, now encompassing 37 villages and towns in the Bezirk Reutte region.
