Qingdao, a city with a rich history, was once under German and Japanese occupation. It all started in 1897 when the Germans landed troops in Qingdao after the murder of two missionaries. They signed a lease for a 99-year concession treaty, and Qingdao quickly grew to become a bustling town. The Germans left a lasting architectural influence on the city, which can still be seen today in its historic center and train station. Famous for its beer, Tsingtao brewery was established by the Germans in 1903. During World War I, Japan occupied Qingdao and remained until protests during the May 4th Movement led to its return. In 1937, the Japanese took Qingdao again, and it wasn't until 1949 that the Communists finally took control. Today, Qingdao offers a blend of history and modernization. Its beautiful seaside location and pleasant climate make it the perfect destination for those looking for a unique experience in China.
