Put-in-Bay, a vibrant tourist destination, thrives on its tourism industry, attracting visitors from April to October each year. The island, home to approximately 500 full-time residents, maintains its charm even during the winter months. Throughout the colder season, supplies, including perishables, mail, parcels, and even bank employees, are flown to the island. The island's sole bank operates once a week until spring comes. Put-in-Bay boasts a single school serving all grades from kindergarten to 12, catering not only to its own residents but also to the educational needs of neighboring Middle Bass and North Bass Islands.
