To reach Pogradec, you can enter Macedonia and then proceed to Albania via the Qaf Than or Tushemisht border crossings. Please note that there is no longer a railway service available between Pogradec and Durres. Instead, the train route now stops in Librazhd. If you wish to travel by train, you will need to arrange additional transportation from Librazhd to Pogradec. The train departs from Durres once a day at 7.15 AM, arriving in Librazhd at 11.01 AM. Return trips to Durres depart from Librazhd at 11.55 AM, with an arrival time of 3.42 PM. The train carriages have been improved, but some windows may still be damaged. Alternatively, you have the option to take a bus or minibus (furgon) from Tirana, the capital of Albania. The departure points for these vehicles may vary, so it's best to check with your hotel or hostel for the updated information. The bus journey takes approximately 3 to 4 hours, while minibus rides are slightly faster. The roads in the eastern part of Albania are generally in good condition. Buses cost 500 Leke, while minibuses are priced at 600 Leke. If you prefer a more direct route from Macedonia, you can cross the border by foot or car south of Lake Ohrid. However, it's important to note that major coaches traveling to Ohrid town usually follow the northern route from Tirana. There is also a bus service from Ohrid that runs along the southern route, stopping at Sveti Naum and continuing to the border. The cost of the bus ticket is 110 Macedonian denars. If you opt for a taxi, negotiate a fair price, but a good estimate for two persons is 200 Leke. On Sundays, you have the option to take a boat from Ohrid to Pogradec, departing at 2.40 PM. It is recommended to check-in 24 hours in advance to secure your spot on the boat.
