Nestled at the foot of the majestic Grigne mountains, Piani Resinelli is a breathtaking mountain area that sits between 1200 and 1300 meters above sea level. This scenic location encompasses the municipalities of Abbadia Lariana, Mandello del Lario, Ballabio, and Lecco. Originally established as a hunting ground by the Resinellis family in 1830, Piani Resinelli has since transformed into a beloved destination for nature enthusiasts. In 1917, architect Paolo Mezzanotte erected the magnificent Church of the Sacred Heart, becoming a symbol of spiritual tranquility amidst the stunning landscape. The construction of a connecting road in 1936 marked a turning point for Piani Resinelli, allowing easier access for visitors from the low valley. As a result, tourism flourished with the arrival of numerous hotels, restaurants, farms, and even ski resorts in the 1950s. While the ski resorts are no longer in operation due to reduced snowfall, visitors continue to flock to Piani Resinelli for its rustic retreats, excellent hiking trails, and the sheer joy of immersing themselves in the breathtaking scenery.
