There are multiple ways to reach Peloponnese in Greece, each offering its own unique experience. If you prefer to have the freedom to make occasional stops along the way, you can drive or take a bus from Athens. The drive to Nafplio takes about 2 hours, Sparta about 4 hours, Patras about 2.5 hours, and Kalamata about 3 hours and 45 minutes (3 hours on the nonstop express bus). If you'd rather enjoy the scenic train ride, you can take the Proastiakos (suburban) train from Athens International Airport, which runs along the north route to Kiato and even Patras through a local train correspondence. For a more maritime adventure, you can hop on a ferry from Piraeus port to the charming Saronic islands of Poros, Hydra, or Spetses. If you want to explore the mainland, you can get off at the ports of Methana or Galatas (through Poros town) or Costa. You'll even find car rental agencies there for added convenience. Another option is to fly from Athens International Airport to Kalamata. Aegean Airlines operate daily flights to Kalamata. If you're coming from Western Greece or Ipeiros, you can take the Trikoupis bridge (Rio-Antirio) to reach Patras.
