Pachuca de Soto, a city with nearly 500,000 inhabitants, is nestled in the northern part of the Valley of Mexico. Like other cities in central Mexico such as Guanajuato and Zacatecas, Pachuca has a hilly terrain due to its origin as a silver mining center established by the Spanish alongside Real del Monte. After the closure of the mines, the city experienced a decline in the mid-20th century, lacking economic and demographic growth compared to its regional counterparts. However, Pachuca has now transformed into a thriving town with abundant opportunities and major construction projects underway. The city's pride lies in FC Pachuca, its football team known as Tuzos, which remains highly successful and beloved nationwide. Pachuca is situated half in the mountains and half in a vast, arid valley, at an altitude of 2600 meters above sea level. This unique location brings cold temperatures, especially during mornings and evenings. The city is known for its constant wind, so do pack jackets if you plan to explore. Due to the altitude, the sun can be intense during the day, making sun protection essential. Summer temperatures range between 15 to 30 degrees while winter sees temperatures from 0 to 20 degrees. However, expect fluctuations beyond these ranges, and be prepared for the cool winds that prevail year-round. The rainy season in Pachuca occurs from July to October.
