The Nyuto Onsen is easily accessible by train or bus. If you are coming from Tokyo, you can take the Akita Shinkansen Komachi trains which provide hourly service to Tazawako station. The journey from Tokyo takes approximately 3.5 hours, from Sendai it takes 2 hours, and from Morioka it takes 40 minutes. It is recommended to book your seat in advance as seats on these trains are reserved. If you have a Japan Rail Pass, it is accepted on these trains. For those who prefer to travel by bus, Ugo-kotsu operates an overnight express highway bus service from Hamamatsucho in Tokyo and Yokohama Station to Tazawako Station. The single fare is 8,860 yen (with an additional 510 yen from Yokohama), and the round-trip fare is 15,890 yen (with an additional 1,020 yen from Yokohama). The bus departs from Yokohama at 9:35 PM and Hamamatsucho at 10:25 PM, arriving in Tazawako at 8 AM. The return bus departs from Tazawako at 8:20 PM, arriving in Hamamatsucho at 6:05 AM and Yokohama at 6:50 AM. Once you arrive at Tazawako Station, you can take a direct bus for Nyuto Onsen from Stop No.1. The bus is operated by Ugo-kotsu and is easily recognizable with its red color and white stripes. The bus follows the only road in Nyuto and makes several stops before terminating near Ganiba Spa, where the road ends. The journey takes approximately 55 minutes via Tazawako. The bus schedule usually coordinates with the arrival and departure times of the Komachi trains from Tokyo.
