Get in
If you're planning on coming to Nuuksio by car, there are convenient parking lots at Solvalla, Haukkalampi, and Kattila, with plenty of other parking options available elsewhere. The drive from Helsinki to Nuuksio takes around 35 minutes. If driving isn't your preferred mode of transportation, you can also opt for a bicycle or a bus. When it comes to using the bus services to Nuuksio, keep in mind that some routes have limited schedules, so it's a good idea to check the schedules beforehand. You can find the schedules from the route planner [2]. The main bus route through Nuuksio runs along the eastern shore of the scenic Nuuksion Pitkäjärvi lake, which is one of the park's most popular areas. If you want to explore the eastern side of the park, here's how you can get there: first, take the commuter train S, U, E, or L from the Central Railway Station in Helsinki to Espoo station. From there, transfer to bus 245. The Haltia Nature Centre in Solvalla is a great starting point for accessing the area. If you're going to the Haukkalampi area, get off at Nuuksionp 2 kilometers after Solvalla/Halti, and then enjoy a picturesque two-kilometer stroll on the unpaved road to Haukkalampi. For those interested in exploring the northern parts of Nuuksio, get off the bus at the last stop at Kattila (available only from May to October). To reach the southern side of the park at Siikajärvi, you'll need to take trains A, E, U, S, L, or Y to Leppävaara and then transfer to bus 238, 238K, or 242. Please note that entering Nuuksio from this side requires good maps and prior planning, as the entrance to the park is poorly marked and there are no park facilities in this area. For those looking to explore the southwestern side of the park, catch bus 280 or 290 [3] from Helsinki City Bus Terminal (Kamppi Center) to Veikkola Koulu. From there, you can take a taxi for the last few kilometers north to the park, or you can enjoy a leisurely walk or bike ride through the quiet village roads. Just like the southern side, entering Nuuksio from this area also requires good maps and prior planning, as the entrance is poorly marked and there are no park facilities here. If you're interested in visiting the rarely visited western side of the park, take bus 280 or 290 [4] from Helsinki City Bus Terminal (Kamppi Center) to Tervalammen Kartano and prepare yourself for a scenic walk of several kilometers. Once again, make sure you have good maps and have planned your route in advance, as the entrance to Nuuksio from this side is poorly marked. Finally, to explore the peaceful northeastern side of the park, catch bus 346 [5] from Helsinki City Bus Terminal (Kamppi Center) to Pyyslampi. As soon as you arrive, the nature park with its beautiful lakes will be right on the southern side of the road. For a hassle-free nature excursion, you may also consider booking a trip with Feel The Nature (see [Do]) that includes transportation to and from Helsinki City Centre and Espoo.
