Are you ready for an amazing journey to Tyrna? In Cherrapunji, head to the market where you can catch a shared taxi to Tyrna for just 40 rupees. If you prefer a private cab, you can hire one from the market for 250 rupees. Don't forget to check out the bus that passes through the market between 9-9:30 AM. It continues through lower Sohra, driving by the Indian Oil pump and the downtown area. This bus drops you off on the highway, only 500 meters away from Tyrna, and the fare is 30 rupees. Catching the morning bus is the best option as shared taxis start filling up later in the day. Once you reach Tyrna, get ready for an adventure. Walk down to Longsophi, the village where the stairs begin. But before that, you can take an alternative route to Mynteng village on a well-maintained trail. It's a twenty-minute walk through the jungle with an even grade, and from there, Nongriat is just a short distance away. With a reasonably fit body and light backpack, you can expect the hike from Longsophi to Nongriat to take around 45 minutes. No need for a guide – just enjoy the journey and immerse yourself in nature's beauty!
