If you want to visit the Navajo Nation, your best option is to drive there. The major airports are far away, and commuter air service to Farmington and Gallup is not reliable. The same goes for rail service. However, if you take the Amtrak line between Albuquerque and Flagstaff, you can stop in Gallup and have a glimpse of the southern side of the reservation. Window Rock, which is the administrative center of the Navajo Nation, is conveniently located near Interstate 40, close to the New Mexico-Arizona state line. You can easily reach Window Rock and other major settlements on the reservation, such as Ganado, Chinle, and Kayenta, by using well-maintained roads.
