Rinjani, the second highest volcano in Indonesia, offers a breathtaking view at 3,726 meters. Towering over the picturesque island of Lombok, it commands the landscape with its grandeur. Within its vast 50 km caldera lies the magnificent crater lake, Segara Anak (Child of the Sea), surrounded by the remnants of volcanic eruptions that formed a new mountain called Gunung Baru (New Mountain). A natural hot spring adds to the allure of Segara Anak. Discover the wonders of nature in Mount Rinjani National Park, which spans 41,000 hectares within its boundaries and an additional 66,000 hectares of protected forest outside. In 2008, the Indonesian government proposed Rinjani as a UNESCO geopark, a testament to its unique geological significance and potential to be the first of its kind in Indonesia. [1]
