Mt. Gretna, situated in Pennsylvania, has a fascinating history tied to supplying charcoal to the Cornwall Iron Furnace, which produced cannons for George Washington's army during the Revolutionary War.

At one time, Mt. Gretna was easily accessible by railway from anywhere in the country. However, World War II led to the decline of its popularity, resulting in the closure of the amusement park and abandonment of hotels.

Despite these changes, certain traditions have endured. The Playhouse Theater, the Jigger Shoppe, the Roller Rink, and the Lake remain beloved attractions. Additionally, the tradition of spending leisurely days and nights on the front porches of the cozy cabin-like homes has persisted.

In 1960, the Timbers Restaurant was established, adding to the town's charm and providing a gathering place for locals and visitors alike. Furthermore, in 1976, the first annual Gretna Art Show took place, marking the modern revival of Mt. Gretna.
