Reaching Mt Everest is an adventure in itself, starting with a flight to Tribhuvan International Airport in Nepal. From there, you'll embark on a shorter yet thrilling flight from Kathmandu to Ten-zing Hillary Airport, situated in the breathtaking Himalayas. This exclusive airport is the only access point to the village, with only turbo prop aircraft and helicopters able to land on its challenging airfield. Lukla and the surrounding villages lack roadways, making the airfield vital for transportation. However, landing and taking off here is not for the faint-hearted. The airport is perched at an elevation of approximately 2,800 meters (9,300 feet) amid towering mountain terrain. On one side, a high mountain looms, while a cliff poses a challenge on the other. The extreme weather conditions, including high winds and low visibility, often result in closure throughout the day.
