Mt. Apo, the highest mountain in the country with an impressive altitude of 3,146 meters (10,321.5 ft), showcases breathtaking vistas. Located between Davao City, Davao del Sur province, and Cotabato province, this majestic peak offers captivating views of its surroundings. Davao City can be admired from the northeast, approximately 45 kilometers (25 miles) away, while Digos City and Kidapawan City can be observed from the southeast and west, respectively, at distances of 25 kilometers (16 miles) and 20 kilometers (12 miles). Recognizing its natural beauty and significance, Mount Apo was declared a national park by President Manuel L. Quezon on May 9, 1936, through Proclamation no. 59. Subsequent proclamations, such as Proclamation no. 35 on May 8, 1966, and Proclamation no. 882 on September 24, 1996, further solidify its protected status.
