Get in
Mossendjo, located 175 km north of Dolisie, is an exhilarating 5-hour drive on rough dirt roads. During the rainy season, these roads become rutted and muddy, making them nearly impassable for regular cars. However, trucks or land rovers are up for the challenge. Alternatively, if you prefer a faster and more adventurous option, you can charter a plane and land at the old airstrip in Mossendjo. Another option is to take the train from Pointe Noire through Dolisie, which will take several hours. Trains typically run every other day in each direction since there is only one track. In the late 90's, there were first and second-class train cars, allowing you to choose between riding with the well-to-do or the common man. Although tickets guarantee passage, they don't always ensure a seat, especially when heavy rainstorms cause car reductions on the train. Despite the lack of amenities, you can buy lunch from food vendors at train stops and find bathrooms along the way. Don't forget to bring your own drinking water for the journey.
