Nevertheless, two days after the devastating bombardment, German paratroopers boldly established their presence amidst the ruins. Undeterred, the Allies launched relentless assaults against the German occupants, determined to reclaim the strategic location. Their unwavering resolve paid off as they valiantly ousted the enemy forces, securing victory in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds. Cassino is conveniently located on the Rome to Naples railway line. You can also reach the town and abbey by using the A1 tollway (Autostrada) between Rome and Naples and taking the exit at Cassino.
