Situated on the site of an ancient Phoenician trade center established in the tenth century BC, Misratah city is a hub of activity. Located 200 km east of Tripoli and 825 km west of Benghazi, it is the third largest city in Libya, with a population of 300,000. While tourism in Misratah has its ups and downs, one thing remains constant: the city is safe and well organized. Known as the main industrial city in the country, it houses a government-owned steel factory and numerous small businesses and shops. What sets Misratah apart is its breathtaking sandy beaches along the Mediterranean Sea.
