Get in
If you're planning a trip to Mindo, Ecuador, there are several transportation options to consider. If you're coming from Santo Domingo, La Concordia, or even Quito, you can take a direct bus to Mindo. However, please note that round-trip tickets are not available in Quito, so you'll need to purchase a one-way ticket. For bus schedules and more information, you can visit the AndesTransit website: AndesTransit. Additionally, you can check out the "Getting Around" section of the Ecuador country page for more details. Another option is a daily shared shuttle service that departs from Quito. It offers personalized pick-ups and multiple schedules. For private shuttles and customized schedules, you can visit EcuadorBus: EcuadorBus. The bus company operating in Mindo is called Flor de Valle / Cayambe. They depart from Terminal Terrestre Norte, La Ofelia. Please note that the bus station has moved in recent years, so ignore any outdated information stating that it departs from Mariscal. To reach the bus station from Quito's tourist area (Mariscal), you can take a taxi which will cost around $6 and take approximately 30 to 40 minutes. Alternatively, you can hop on the "Metrobus," Quito's bus rapid transit system. It's recommended to purchase your round-trip bus ticket to Mindo upon arrival in the town if you're planning a day trip. This will ensure you have a seat reserved for your return journey. On weekends, there are more direct buses to and from Quito than during the week. In addition to Flor de Valle, other bus lines like Kennedy, Aloag, and San Pedrito also serve the area. These buses do not go directly into Mindo, but they stop on the main road that runs along the top of the valley. From there, you can easily find transport, such as trucks, to take you downhill into town for a small fee of $0.50 to $3.00, depending on the number of passengers. If you find that all the returning buses are full, don't worry. You can rent a car and hire a driver from the transportation company located across the street and up the block from the bus station.
