The average fare for this adventure is approximately 10-9,000TShs. But wait, there's more! If you miss the morning bus, don't worry. There are several daily departures from Mbinga, with the latest bus leaving around 3 pm. And here's an added bonus: a brand new ferry on Lake Nyassa is now at your service. This majestic vessel, replacing the older MV Songea, sails to Mbamba Bay on a weekly basis, offering breathtaking views throughout the journey. Departing from Itungi Port on Mondays, the ferry makes enchanting stops at lakeside villages, arriving in Mbamba Bay on Tuesdays. For the return trip, the northbound voyage departs from Mbamba Bay on Wednesdays. It's an adventure you won't want to miss! Please note that, unfortunately, there is currently no regularly scheduled ferry service to Nkhata Bay (Malawi). However, occasional boats that carry passengers and cargo do depart sporadically. And for the explorers with wanderlust, there's even a Tanzanian immigration office located at Mbamba Bay's port. So, pack your bags, grab your camera, and get ready for an unforgettable journey!
