Founded in 1571 by the Spanish conquistador Miguel Lpez de Legazpi, Intramuros was the vibrant capital of the Spanish East Indies for centuries. This bustling metropolis was the center of commerce, education, government, and religion, showcasing Spain's imperial might in the distant Philippines.
