Prepare for an immersive journey through history at the Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park, nestled in the captivating Texas Hill Country. The park consists of two distinct visitor areas, each offering a unique experience. The first is the Johnson Settlement, Visitor Center, Boyhood Home, and Park Headquarters, located in the charming town of Johnson City. The second is the LBJ Ranch, situated near Stonewall. These areas are approximately 14 miles apart. To begin your visit, head to the Park Visitor Center in Johnson City. If you're traveling from Austin, make your way westbound on Highway 290. When you reach the signal light in Johnson City, take a left (still on 290) towards Fredericksburg. After three blocks, turn left onto Avenue F. Travel two more blocks and make a right onto Ladybird Lane. You'll find the parking lot and visitor center on your left. If you're coming from San Antonio, take Highway 281 northbound until it joins Highway 290 at the signal light in Johnson City. Then, turn left towards Fredericksburg. After three blocks, turn left onto Avenue F. Proceed for two blocks before making a right onto Ladybird Lane. The parking lot and visitor center will be on your left, ready to welcome you. For those arriving from Fredericksburg, follow Highway 290 eastbound until you reach Johnson City. As you pass the traffic light at Nugent Street, keep going for two blocks before turning right onto Avenue F. After two more blocks, make a right onto Ladybird Lane. The parking lot and visitor center await you on the left. On your way to Johnson City, you'll also pass the LBJ Ranch District, giving you a glimpse of what's to come. Now, if you wish to explore the LBJ Ranch and LBJ State Park and Historic Site, follow Highway 290 from Park Headquarters. Travel westbound for fourteen miles until you arrive at the LBJ State Historical Park. If you're coming from Fredericksburg, head eastbound on Highway 290 for sixteen miles to reach the LBJ State Historical Park. Don't forget to acquire tickets for the LBJ Ranch bus tour at the State Park Visitor Center. Get ready to step back in time and discover the rich history of this remarkable place!
