A commission was appointed by the General Assembly to find the perfect location, and they discovered a 200-acre piece of land owned by John Murfin in Union Township. This land became the foundation for a new town chosen by the commissioners, which they named London. For almost two centuries, London has served as the central hub for the community in Madison County, and it continues to thrive and evolve.
