Lo De Marcos attracts a diverse crowd of tourists, blending Mexican hospitality with international visitors. Many of the rental properties near the beach are owned by Mexicans, particularly from Guadalajara. Around 60-70% of the tourists in Lo De Marcos are retirees who spend part or all of the winter there. Among them are recreational vehicle owners who reside in the five main RV parks situated along or near the beach. Among the non-Mexican tourists, Canadians and Americans make up the majority, with a ratio of approximately 80% Canadians to 20% Americans, as evident from the license plates in town. Americans often come from Northern California, Oregon, or Washington State, while Canadians hail from British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Quebec. It's a playful joke among locals that the number of Saskatchewan Roughrider flags flying is comparable to the number of Mexican flags. Notably, Quebecois tourists can be found primarily on the north end of the beach. With such a diverse mix of visitors, language barriers can sometimes lead to humorous misunderstandings in this charming little town.
